Exchange Point is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports initiatives dedicated to transformative technology and social justice, with a focus on advancing public interest technology and open ecosystems. We serve as a financial host for projects, providing the nonprofit infrastructure they need to grow and thrive. This includes receiving tax-deductible contributions and grant funding on their behalf, managing compliance and administration, and allowing project teams to focus on their mission rather than building their own organizational structure. By lowering barriers to entry and sharing resources, Exchange Point helps ideas take root and impact scale more quickly.

Exchange Point was started by Mallory Knodel, founder and Executive Director of the Social Web Foundation and the Internet Exchange Newsletter. She previously served as Chief Technology Officer at the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), focusing on encryption, censorship, and cybersecurity. Mallory co-chairs the Human Rights Protocol Considerations research group of the Internet Research Task Force and advises the Freedom Online Coalition and the Open Technology Fund. A prolific author, she is known for demystifying technology and challenging misconceptions.
